About Merrion
Research

In 2006 Town Centre Securities PLC instructed RCT Analytics and the University of Leeds to undertake consumer, retailer and demographic research at the Merrion Centre. The results are summarised below:

  • The gender split is 60% female and 40% male.
  • The age categories are evenly spread across each of the three key age sectors  namely 16-24 year olds, 25-44 year olds and 45 years plus.
  • The large proportion of men visiting is a result of nearby offices and whilst the Merrion Centre appeals to the older customer, the nearby presence of the Universities and Colleges ensure an even balance.
  • The Centre’s ABC1 demographic is 51%.
  • Visit frequency of 68 visits per annum (substantially higher than national benchmark - 55-60).
  • Dwell time of 2 hours 14 minutes is slightly shorter than peer group benchmark of 2 hours 20 minutes.  Larger than Briggate however. This could suggest that those visiting and parking at the Merrion Centre appreciate the value parking.

Such statistics are supported by our own footfall data which is showing visitors to the Merrion Centre are over 11 million per annum.  Please note that footfall at the Merrion Centre in 2006 was 11.26 million, 4.5% up on the previous year and has consistently been up, year on year.
