This summer, the Merrion Centre welcomes Football in Fabric — a unique new exhibition exploring the stories, culture and nostalgia woven through the world’s most loved game.
Opening to coincide with the FIFA World Cup™ in June 2026, the exhibition brings together iconic football shirts, rare memorabilia, photography and personal stories that span generations of fans and football history.
Created by lifelong football enthusiast and collector Rory Nicol, Football in Fabric is a deeply personal journey through football fandom — from childhood memories of classic World Cups and legendary kits to the friendships, identities and communities shaped by the sport.
Located on the upper balcony level of the Merrion Centre, the exhibition invites visitors to rediscover the moments, matches and memories that connect football fans across cities, countries and generations.
More than simply a collection of shirts and memorabilia, Football in Fabric celebrates the emotional connection people have with football and the stories behind the fabric.
